Ib Kofod Larsen Teak and Leather Lounge Chair
A high back lounge chair designed by Ib Kofod Larsen and produced by OPE in Sweden during the 1950s. The design is characteristic of Larsen’s work from this period, with a light, architectural teak frame and gently tapering armrests that draw the eye through the piece. The proportions are generous without feeling heavy, making it a practical and comfortable chair for everyday use.
This example has been fully restored with care and restraint. The frame was stripped back, carefully sanded and refinished using traditional methods, bringing out the warmth and depth of the teak without overworking the surface. The seat has been re-webbed with new Pirelli webbing, providing the correct level of support and comfort.
The original leather cushions have been dismantled and rebuilt internally, with new foam introduced for long-term use. Each cushion has also been reinforced from within with a secondary leather backing to improve strength and durability, while retaining the original outer surface. The leather has been cleaned and nourished to restore suppleness and tone.
The cognac leather shows a natural, even patina developed over time, which sits well against the richer tones of the teak. A considered piece, both in its design and in the way it has been brought back into condition..

At Alto Stile, each piece is restored with a focus on longevity while preserving the character developed over time. The teak frame of this Ib Kofod Larsen lounge chair was carefully stripped and refinished using traditional methods to retain its natural tone.
The original leather cushions were fully dismantled and rebuilt internally. As leather dries and weakens with age, each cushion has been reinforced from within using a secondary leather backing — a time-intensive process that significantly improves strength and durability while retaining the original outer surface and patina.
