Chresten Findahl Brodersen High Back Lounge Chair
Chresten Findahl Brodersen high back lounge chair, produced by Findahls Møbelfabrik in Denmark during the 1950s.
A less common model, defined by its sculptural teak armrests, which give the chair its character. The lines are restrained, but the shaping of the arms introduces a subtle sense of movement, setting it apart from more conventional high back forms of the period. The proportions are generous without feeling heavy, making it a practical and comfortable chair for everyday use.
The chair has been fully restored in our London workshop. The original upholstery and degraded internal materials were removed, with new foam installed to ensure long-term comfort and support. It has been rebuilt using a fire-retardant calico base layer before being upholstered in a wool bouclé from Larsen, finished with leather piping that defines the edges without overpowering the form.
The teak frame has been carefully cleaned, lightly sanded and French polished to revive the depth of colour while retaining the natural patina developed over time.
As with all pieces at Alto Stile, the restoration is carried out with a focus on longevity and respect for the original design.

The chair is upholstered in a cream wool bouclé from Larsen, Margo chosen for its soft handle and subtle texture. The cream tone sits quietly against the warmer colour of the teak, allowing the form to remain the focus. Leather piping has been introduced to define the edges of the upholstery, creating a gentle contrast in both material and tone. The combination of bouclé, leather and teak brings a balance of texture and structure, emphasising the sculptural quality of the chair without distraction.
