Mid Century Rosewood Dining Table, Danish 1950’s
A charming Danish Rosewood table with two extension leaves made by a cabinetmaker in the 1950’s. Beautiful deep rich colour and patina to the rosewood which has been newly French polished to great effect.
French Polishing is the traditional method of finishing fine furniture building up hundreds of layers over a long period of time. A lengthy time consuming process that a lot of restorers do not use anymore but actually penetrates the wood rather than sitting on the surface to really bring out the deep rich colour.
A lovely piece of mid century Danish design. Beautiful patina to the rosewood a wood which is now a protected species and cant be used for furniture.
