A Mid Century Sofa in Beech & Wool Designed by Tove & Edvard Kindt Larsen, Danish 1950’s
A beautiful two seater mid century sofa designed by Tove & Edvard Kindt Larsen for France & Daverkosen in the 1950’s.
Lovely form and shape to this sofa a really creative and interesting design very much in the post-modernish Scandinavian idea of form follows function, a sort of cool restrained elegance. A lovely touch how the armrests elegantly shape out of the sides to accentuate the line and curve. Designed by husband and wife Tove and Edvard Kindt Larsen who are not particularly well known but produced some amazing furniture for many manufacturers including as here for France & Daverkosen who in turn patronised many famous designers of the era including Ole Wanscher, Peter Hvidt and Finn Juhl.
The sofa’s beech frame has been cleaned and the old damaged finish removed, sanded and refinished with Danish oil to bring out the colour and patina of the wood. The original sprung cushions have been kept and re-upholstered in a teal wool upholstery fabric from Harris Tweed. A beautiful colour very in keeping with the style and time of the piece.
A beautiful mid century sofa a rare design sympathetically restored to look amazing in any interior.
