Buying mid century furniture can seem a little overwhelming. So we have compiled a list of questions we are frequently asked to shed some light on what we do, and how we do it.
Since leaving the European Union in 2020 exporting antique furniture has become more expensive, with VAT now liable as well as the preparation of documentation for customs clearance.
But at Alto Stile we cover the additional costs of VAT and documentation so you can purchase with confidence, without the worry of any additional hidden charges.

Everything is restored by us to a high standard.
Most things need some work to them whether that have been bought at auction or from a private vendor. Some just need a clean and polish while others might require slightly more work like French polishing. But everything is done with care and attention to detail.
All items are sympathetically restored to retain and enhance their natural beauty and patina, something that gives mid century its unique character.
With soft furnishings when required the upholstery padding and strapping is removed and replaced in the original way.
For the upholstery we only use high quality upholstery fabrics. We have spent great time and effort sourcing quality fabrics that enhance the furniture, and do not use inferior ones.
leather is cleaned with recommended leather cleaners and nourished to ensure its longevity.

The showroom is at 19 Bernard Rd N15 4NE in North London, 5 minutes walk from Seven Sisters tube station. We are available during the day, and can arrange evening and weekend viewings as well, please call first to let us know you are coming.
If it’s not possible for you to visit, we maybe able to arrange to bring the piece to you.

We hope that you are delighted with your mid century piece. However please contact us immediately in the unlikely event that your goods arrive damaged, or within 7 days of receipt of delivery if you wish to return.
Please return to me within 7 days of purchase in original condition, in the original packing provided.
Any refund will exclude any delivery and return charges which have previously been incurred, and returned items must be sent fully insured.
