A Borge Mogensen Sidebaord in Elm for FDB Mobler, Danish 1940’s
An early sideboard in elm with adjustable pine drawers designed by Borge Mogensen and manufactured by FDB Mobler in the 1940’s.
A rare early example of Borge Mogensen’s work a beautiful sideboard crafted in elm. Elm is rarely used in furniture from this period mostly oak, teak, beech and rosewood but the beautiful rich colour and patina of the elm holds its own and does this piece justice. Beautiful attention to detail in the drawer inserts in the box jointing as well as the raised key escutcheon and the general finish of the piece.
We have undertaken a thorough restoration cleaning then removing the old damaged finish and lightly sanding. The drawers were also removed and lightly oiled and the main body was finished of with Danish oil and wax polish to enhance the beautiful deep rich amber colour and patina of the elm.
A beautiful cabinet in rare elm wood by one of the foremost furniture designers of the period in excellent original condition, a very beautiful and practical piece of furniture restored to look amazing for years to come.
