Carl-Johan Boman Mid Century Sofa in Green Mohair Velvet
A mid century Boman two-seater sofa, made in Finland in the 1950s and newly upholstered in Dedar “Vladimiro” kid mohair velvet in a deep green.
A simple and elegant design. The back and seat are gently curved with really nice proportions, giving the piece its beautiful shape, very much in the modernist style of the 1940s and 50s. Clean and uncluttered, it relies on its form rather than any added detail.
Comfortable and easy to use as a two-seater, with a calm, balanced feel to it.
The sofa arrived in worn original condition and has been fully restored. The old upholstery and internal materials were removed and replaced with new foams and supportive layers. It was then rebuilt and upholstered in a fire retardant calico before being finished in the Dedar mohair. The fabric works well on this piece, a deep rich pile with a soft sheen that catches the light nicely.
The legs have been cleaned, lightly refined and waxed to bring back the colour while keeping the original patina.
A well made piece, properly restored, and now finished in its original condition.

The sofa is upholstered in Dedar Vladimiro kid mohair velvet in colour Militaire. A deep, rich green that works particularly well with the shape of the sofa, sitting neatly across the curves and bringing out the shape of the piece without overwhelming it. The mohair has a beautiful softness to it, with a dense, smooth pile that feels nice to the touch and catches the light gently across the surface.
